The Quilted Raven features a fine selection of Raven Frog Fiber as well as Rabbit Ridge Alpaca. Promoting and supporting local fiber artists is something the owner, Jana Hayenga chooses to do. Cross stitch materials, fabric, quilting supplies are also in abundance at The Quilted Raven. Kits, books and scrapbooking items are sold at The Quilted Raven for all craft fans.

While the majority of The Quilted Raven is quilting fabrics, quilting kits and patterns which have an Alaska or Northern flavor it is worth a visit. We recommend visiting because the Quilted Raven features yarns that are locally dyed by Michelle Colburn of Rabbit Ridge Design, an Anchorage artist, and Bobbi Daniels, of Raven Frog Fiber Arts Designs, a Sitka artist.

Rabbit Ridge Designs raises a herd of Huacaya alpacas overlooking the shifting tides of Turnagain Arm in Alaska. Alpacas are the only fiber producing animal to naturally produce over 20 different colors, ranging from deep black, to warm mahogany browns, to showy white. Hand-dyeing produces a completely unique product from typical commercially dyed yarns. Once the yarn arrives at Rabbit Ridge , the artistic process begins to make each skein a work of art. The yarn is hand painted in small dyelots with custom colorways designed to reflect the beauty of nature, giving you a truly unique product. Rabbit Ridge uses her alpaca wool blended with Merino and Silk to produce her unique custom yarns. Her Alaska series featuring: Aleutian Sky, Aurora Fire, Glacier, Hoonah Blue, Moosewood, Sitka Rose and Wildberry tend to be some of her best selling colors both in 100 %wool and blended wools and fibers.

Raven Frog Fiber Arts: Bobbi Daniels lives with her husband and three sons in the Tongass National Forest in Southeast Alaska. Bobbi hand dyes her yarn and roving types using the forest contents to enhance colors. Her Merino, Mohair, Nylon, fiber mixes along with her Kelp Bed, Alder Bark, Stormy Seas, River Bed, Field of Lupines, Dark Winter Nights and Deer Hunt colorways seem to be some of her most popular.
