Port Arthur, Australia

Serving as one of Port Arthur’s Historic Sites, the penal colony is now a UNESCO world heritage sites. It is one of Tasmania’s main tourist attractions and is known as one of Australia’s most significant places of heritage. Though the sire closed in 1877, it is now beautifully restored and has a picturesque, storybook quality.

Located on the southern tip of Tasmania’s Tasman peninsula, Port Arthur was once a hive of industry. With everything from ship building to shoe making, this town thrived with industry until the convict population began to rise and the town became known for its penal nature.

If you love history, you will love Port Arthur. It really is like nothing you’ve seen before!
