Description ~ Equilateral Knitting - Triangle Hat

Learn to knit equal sided triangles and how to modify the size of the triangles. We will take a close look at knitting-up stitches and right and left-slanting decreases and the various methods of making them. From this base we’ll add further triangular units into a preplanned strip for a hat. Folding and assembly of the strip, with a revision of the necessary finishing techniques (Mattress stitch and setting stitches to rows). We’ll look at designing with triangular units and thinking in three dimensions, variations of patterns, stripes and textures. Creating hexagons and planning patchwork style projects. Triangles are ideal portable knitting!

Dpns are ideal for socks, mittens and other small portable projects. Discover how to cast on without twists, slip stitches at high speed, keep track of your stitches and work without ladders at the corners. Look at the many types of needles available and how they would suit your knitting style. Learn I cord and other uses of dpns. Practice using one long, two or multiple circular needles in addition to or instead of rigid dpns. The advantages of working flat fabrics on dpns.

Garter stitch short rows to create the ultimate practical, comfortable, generic sock heel. Students will try ruffled edges, short-rows in the round and shape a sleeve head. Knit a circular disc by working only straight rows. Play with free style short rows, flat and three dimensional.

How to create a South American-style Puntas edging topped with stranded Garter stitch patterns, applied intarsia triangles and stripes. And for a final flourish a Latvian twisted edging (a cool spin on a Garter stitch edge).
