Start your trip with an optional 7-night adventure in Peru and/or a 2-night Santiago package so you can explore Santiago and learn about South American alpaca farming at the Quintessence Alpaca Farm. Upon embarking on Holland America's Westerdam you will cruise the stunning Chilean coastline, around Cape Horn to Argentina and the Falkland Islands before ending your adventure in the cosmopolitan cities of Montevideo and Buenos Aires.

South America is home to yarn companies producing some very gorgeous yarn including Quintessence, Falkland Wool, Manos and, of course, Malabrigo. Yarn shopping and fiber activities abound on this itinerary including the Quintessence Alpaca Farm, the Lanas Chucao fiber cooperative, Bluff Cove Sheep Farm, Manos del Uruguay, Malabrigo and shopping to your heart's content in the Buenos Aires yarn district. In a region that is home to hundreds of thousands of sheep, this trip is sure to satisfy even the savviest fiber enthusiast.

The onboard education program includes a range of classes taught by Marie Greene. Take such popular classes as her mind-blowing finishing class Pick Up Artist where you will learn sweater finishing techniques you'll not see anywhere else, the Sweater Whisperer, Pocket Science isn't Rocket Science, Twist and Shout (Knitting and Creating with Twisted Stitches) and Modern Wool Embroidery.
