China and Japan Knitting Cruise (Jan 2021) ~ Knitting Cruises Description

14-Day China & Japan Knitting Cruise w/ JC Briar
January 30 - February 13, 2021

Join JC Briar and other knitters onboard Holland America Line's beautiful ms Noordam for a 14-Day cruise visiting some of the most beautiful ports in China, South Korea and Japan, while being pampered in style along the way. Enjoy taking educational knitting classes while the ship is at sea, and seeing some of the top attractions in the incredible ports of call. This cruise has a nice balance between days at sea and time in port, ensuring that you return home well-rested and enlightened from the wonderful places visited on this cruise of a lifetime.

Cruise from Hong Kong to Yokohama, Japan and explore some of the most fascinating and ancient civilizations in the world, offering an insight into rich textiles and knitting cultures of their own. On this cruise you will learn more about cultures that are very different to our own, shop for yarn in colorful and bright new places, and spend time knitting and making new friends. The ms Noordam is one of Holland America Line's larger ships with many verandah staterooms and is a favorite among passengers. This itinerary includes such interesting places as Shanghai, Hong Kong, Xiamen, Shanghai, Nagasaki, Jeju, Pusan, Hiroshima, Kochi, and Tokyo. After the cruise everyone will have the opportunity to visit the Nihon Vogue knitting school and and shop at Yuzawaya, one of Japan's largest craft stores.

Instructor JC Briar will offer a number of her popular technique classes from color work to brioche. She will teach Your First Stranded Colorwork, Brioche Wristers, Selbuvotter, Hook Hocus-Pocus, Patterned Brioche, Next Steps in Brioche, and Bind-off Bonanza. JC also is creating a class on Funky Japanese Stitches especially for this itinerary. In it she will cover Japanese charts, understanding Japanese knitting symbols, and how to knit some of the intriguing and unique stitches and stitch patterns found only in Japanese knitting publications. Take the opportunity to learn techniques from an expert knitter and instructor who calls herself a "skill junkie" while enjoying the company of fellow knitters in a relaxing and comfortable venue.

Consider combining this cruise with the 13-day Southeast Asia cruise that begins in Singapore on January 17, 2021 and ends in Hong Kong on January 30, 2021, when this cruise begins. JC Briar will teach seven different classes on the earlier cruise, focusing on lace knitting for the warm weather itinerary.
