In this class students will learn how to knit a traditional Fair Isle Yoke and how to steek. A Fair Isle yoke refers to a specific style of knitting used in sweaters, originating from the Fair Isle in the Shetland Islands. This style is characterized by its colorful, intricate patterns that are typically incorporated into the yoke, or upper part, of the garment.
Materials Needed ~ Fair Isle Yokes - Steeking
- US 3 and 4 / 3.25 and 3.5 mm knitting needles (what suits you bestto knit a small circumference in the round)
- 6 x 25 grams fingering weight yarn in 6 different and contrasting colors, if possible of the same brand (100% wool, nonsuperwash)
- Crochet hook size D (3 mm)
- Color pencils matching the yarns you brought
- Tapestry needle
- Small scissors
