St. Peter Port, Guernsey (Channel Islands)

Introduction
St. Peter Port, Guernsey's main town, is built into a steep valley with spectacular island and coastal views. This port has been rated as one of the 50 most historic towns in all of England and Wales. The brightly painted houses and medieval castle overlooking the harbor make this a picture perfect port of call with a mild climate and scenic sandy beaches.

This British Isle is over 24 square miles of unspoiled scenery that has retained much of its 17th century charm. In addition to scenic nature walks and island drives you can learn more about the local knitting culture. The Island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands is famous for its knitting industry that began in the early 16th Century. The original hand-knitted Guernsey sweater was knit in one piece as a hard-wearing garment for seamen. Visit Le Tricoteur Knitwear in St. Peter Port to watch traditional knitwear being produced.
