Dubrovnik, Croatia

Introduction

Dubrovnik is a walled city, with a Venice feel but without the canals. Dubrovnik is being rebuilt, it was almost destroyed during the Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian War. This is a nice place to visit with its sidewalk cafes, historic sights, and picturesque streets.


Port Orientation

Holland America will dock at either Gruz Harbor or Old Harbor.


Transportation

Walking is a great option. There are no rental cars allowed. The only motorized vehicles in the city are free shuttles, taxis and buses. You can also take a boat excursion around the city.


Sightseeing

At the entrance to the city you can stop by Franciscan Monastery Dominican Monastery, buy some sunblock at the third oldest pharmacy in Europe it opened its doors in 1391. See where the government was in the 15th century at the Rector's Palace, which is now a museum, the second oldest Sephadic Synagogue and many other historical places with in the city's walls.


You can the outdoors by sitting at an outdoor cafe, kayaking, snorkeling, biking, or going to a beach. But watch out not all beach have a No Nudist policy.
