Nassau, on the island of New Providence, is the capital of the Bahamas.  Visitors here will find an eclectic blend of cultural influences from Africa and Europe to North and South America.  Because if its close proximity to Florida, Nassau is one of the most visited cruise ports in the Bahamas and Caribbean.

Nassau has beautiful white sandy beaches and is surrounded by clear turquoise waters teaming with marine life.  Although Nassau is packed with hotels, t-shirt shops and casinos it maintains an old-world flavor and a slow pace that vacationers enjoy.  Nassau is 21-miles long and is connected to Paradise Island via bridge where most cruise passengers spend their time.

Ships dock at Prince George Wharf where visitors can easily walk to many attractions and a very informative visitor's information booth that is open daily. 

Getting Around - The main part of Nassau is very small and most attractions are clustered around the two main roads that connect downtown Nassau, Paradise Island and Cable Beach.  If not taking a tour taxis and water taxis are the best way to get around.

Here you can swim with dolphins, take a horse-drawn carriage ride, see policemen in white starched jackets and colorful helmets, walk along miles of gorgeous beach while basking in the sunshine sipping a refreshing tropical drink.  Other activities include gambling, duty-free shopping and a wide range of water-sports including great scuba diving and snorkeling. 

Some popular attractions include the Georgian government buildings, the Nassau Public Library and Museum, Fort Fincastle, the Queen's Staircase, the Bay Street Straw Market and numerous tropical gardens.
