Bora Bora, French Polynesia

The usual recreations in Bora Bora consist of fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, island tours, and shark feeding. For more of the thrill seeking type there is also parasailing and Jet-skiing. The two top dive business are TOPdive, and Bora Diving Center, dives consist of sites with black-tip sharks, moray eels, and manta rays. Bora Bora is dependent on tourism and you will no doubt find more resorts than small fishing villages. Internationally acclaimed novelist James A. Michener wrote that, in his opinion, "Bora Bora was the world's most beautiful island." Many people will take his side in the argument or at least agree he is on the right track.

Mount Pahia and Mount Otemanu are remnants of extinct volcanoes and rise towards the sky emphasizing their authority over the gorgeous blue-green lagoon. The room temperature crystal waters wash up against snow white beaches and the beautiful sunsets are reflected off the sheer waters. Snorkeling and scuba diving are world class and the rare opportunities that both activities present should be taken advantage of. In Bora Bora romance is certainly in the air, whether that is a literal statement as in the hundreds of honeymoon couples, or just the atmosphere of watching every visitor fall in love with their surroundings.
