Introduction

Santiago is the official capital of Chile with the cruise port actually located in the City of Valparaiso, a vibrant center of Chilean culture. Since the reign of terror lead by Augusto Pinochet ended in 1988, order and democracy has returned to the Chile and Santiago is now flourishing in many ways. With over six million people living in this sprawling city, it is still relatively easy to navigate the city.


Port Orientation

Cruise ships dock in the coastal city of Valparaiso which is about 90 minutes from Santiago.


Transportation

The best and most economic way to get to Santiago from Valparaiso is by Turbus, a reliable bus company that has departures every 20 minutes.


Sightseeing

Make sure to experience a piece of Spanish history by visiting the Plaza de Armas, Civic Quarter, Municipal Theatre, the Palace of Fine Arts and the National Library.


Across the River Mapacho, which wanders through Santiago, you will find the large Metropolitan Park and the trendy Bellavista quarter. Or explore modern Santiago by visiting the Providencia area, filled with beautiful homes, wide streets and many shops and restaurants.
