Introduction
Osaka, located at the mouth of the Odo River on Osaka Bay, is a mix of old and new. Buddhist temples, an ancient castle and modern skyscrapers sit side by side. The city is a tangle of bridges and elevated roadways. Known for its thousands of restaurants, Osaka is called the "kitchen of Japan". With so much to see and do Osaka is a town to spend some time in.

Transportation
Osaka has a convenient subway system easily navigated by non-Japanese speakers. Taxi can be hailed on the street or at taxi stands.


Sightseeing
Osaka Castle is the city's best-known attraction. An observation deck on the eighth floor offers great views of the city. The extensive grounds have 5,750 Japanese plum and cherry trees.


The oldest Buddhist temple in Japan, Shitennoji, is a model of classic temple design has two teahouses.


Tenjimbashi-Suji, the longest shopping street in Japan is best seen on foot as is the Dotonbori district with its nightclubs, restaurants, shops.
