Introduction
Haines borders 20 million acres of protected areas of wilderness and is all you dreamed Alaska would be. Surrounded by abundant wildlife, Haines is best known for its huge flocks of bald eagles and one of the planet’s longest and deepest fjords, Lynn Canal.


Haines provides endless opportunities for outdoor adventure from extreme adventure to simple pleasures at a leisurely pace.


It is a central point in the Golden Circle, the most unique and scenic drive in the world.


Port Orientation
The ship docks at the Haines pier, about a 1/4 mile from Haines main street.


Transportation
There are taxi operators or car rentals available. Most attractions are easily accessible by foot.


Sightseeing

Fort William H. Seward is the first permanent army post in Alaska. Many of the original buildings still stand, now housing private residences, tourist accommodations, eateries and galleries.


The Alaska Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve was created by the State of Alaska to protect and perpetuate the world's largest concentration of Bald Eagles and their critical habitat. The preserve encompasses 48,000 acres (19,420 ha) of land along the Chilkat, Kleheni, and Tsirku Rivers.
